AMP Blog #3: Chipinque's Goals


What:

  • The goal of the Chipinque park is to conserve and preserve natural resources

  • Caring and treating for the wildlife inside of the park and the environment

  • They want future generations to enjoy the park the same way we do right now

  • Two main objectives of the park

  • Maintain biological and ecological processes to ensure flora and fauna biodiversity

  • Sustainable services in park (all are natural)

  • Collecting water with quantity and quality

  • Capturing of carbon

  • Generating oxygen

  • Buffering the impact of natural phenomenon

  • Climate regulation

  • Protection of biodiversity, ecosystems, and ways of living

  • Recreating the scenery and view

When:

  • Regulations ever since the park was officially created/registered

Where:

  • Chipinque ecological park

  • Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico

Who:

  • The San Pedro government donates money to park

  • The keepers of the park maintain it clean and preserve biodiversity

Why:

  • To preserve natural resources and biodiversity

  • So that future generations can enjoy the environment, ecosystems, and biodiversity

  • Create awareness

How:

  • 4 annual programs to meet objectives

  • Program to restore and conserve landslides

  • Control landslides and the loss of "floors"

  • Reduce runoff velocity

  • Stabilize the growth of gullies caused by water, fire, and wind

  • Implementing effective action to diminish the loss of ground cover

  • Construction and organization of stones in a specific form

  • Reforestation with native species

  • Construction of concrete walls and dams

  • Program to prevent and control forest fires

  • Be prepared for whichever forest fire in the park

  • 9 strategical sites with manual tools

  • 2 completely equipped vehicles

  • High pressured water bombs

  • An all terrain vehicle

  • Program to prevent forest plagues

  • Reduce number of infected trees

  • Keep an eye of conifers which are susceptible to be infected by the insect "Dendroctonus spp"

  • Program to produce plants in the forest nurse and maintaining of plantations

  • Protect the ground

  • Better the hydrological cycle

  • Restore damaged ecosystems

  • Increment implementation of mulch to reduce carbon dioxide gas emissions

  • Produces 10,000 forest species and plants them in strategic areas
